Apologies to our darling readers (or lack thereof) for our inexcusably long and insignificantly mysterious absence. In the time that we were gone, we have failed to inform you that we have moved out of Bardon and into a totally foreign suburb, Wilston. As of now, it would appear to be quite misleading and confusing to continue blogging outside our self-titled former suburb. Unless we come up with a better name or a catchier tune to 'Wilston', we'll be out of action a little bit more. (Not that there's much to miss out on anyways. Heh.)

Now for the cookies...

Big Fat Chewy Cookies

What you Need:

125g butter

1/2 cup caster sugar

1/3 cup brown sugar

1/2 tsp vanilla essence

1 large egg

2/3 cup self raising flour

1 cup plain flour

1 cup white/milk chocolate chips

1/2 cup walnuts

What You Need to Do

Preheat fan-forced oven to 160ºC. Line oven trays with non-stick baking paper.
Using an electric mixer, beat cubed butter, caster and brown sugar together along with the egg and vanilla essence until pale and creamy.
In separate bowl, sift flour and stir in with chocolate chips and walnut. Then, add flour to butter mixture and stir with wooden spoon until well combined.
Spoon cookie dough onto baking trays at least 6cm apart to allow the cookie dough to expand.
Place into oven and bake for 10-15 mins or until edges of the cookies have browned. Cookies pale in the middle and slightly brown on the sides might feel soft to the touch but will set and become chewy and moist in the middle once cooled. The longer you bake, the crunchier the cookie.

If needed, acquire local manpower to mix in heavy batter.

Lamb Stew Recipe

What You Need:

0.5-1kg lamb chops/lamb shanks

1 potato

2 sticks of carrots

2 tomatoes

2 sticks of celery

2 big brown onions

500ml pasta sauce/tomato paste

olive oil

italian herbs spice (optional)

rosemary spice (optional)

What to do:

Cut veges and meat into cubes and the onions into quarters. Marinate meat in salt, pepper and spices.
Depending on how you choose to cook your stew (stockpot over stove/slow cooker), brown onions and meat before pouring a cup of water into pot. Place carrot and potatoes into pot once water starts to simmer and cover. Leave tomatoes and celery for later as they will spoil/disintegrate/disappear if overcooked.
Once veges are mid-cooked, pour in pasta sauce/tomato paste along with tomatoes and celery. Add salt to taste and leave to cook until meat is tender enough to your own preference.

Not just any goldfish, but a magic one of course!

'Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea' was originally released in Japan last year by Studio Ghibli and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. For anyone who's familiar with classic anime feature films, these two names are no strangers to you. This year, Disney took on this little project and decided to (re)release an English voiced-over version, coming out August, 14th. Personally, nothing beats the original Japanese voiced version.

Funny how they're releasing it so late after the original release date in Japan, because the DVD rip files are already available online.

Lemon Aid

Lemon Bars / Lemon Squares

What you need:

1 1/2 cup plain flour

2/3 cup icing sugar

3/4 cup butter, softened

3 eggs

1 1/2 cups white sugar

3 tablespoon plain flour

1/4 cup lemon juice, rinds

1 tsp vanilla essence (optional)

a pinch of nutmeg/cinnamon (optional)

dessicated coconut (optional)

What to do:

Preheat oven to 190C. Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
Combine flour,2/3 icing sugar and butter. Pat and flatten dough into the baking pan.
Bake for 20 minutes, until slightly golden. While the crust is baking, whisk together eggs, white sugar, flour, and lemon juice until frothy. Pour lemon mixture over the hot crust.
Return to the preheated oven for an additional 20 to 25 minutes, or until light golden brown. Cool on a wire rack. Dust the top with confectioners' sugar. Cut into squares.

Big tip if you don't have a lemon squeezer : stick a chopstick in the middle and juice lemon in circular motion towards the outer skin. Works wonders.

If you thought we were all about fun and food in Bardon, well, you guessed wrong. There's nothing that annoys/angers/disappoints me more than the wonderful drama of politics back home. Living abroad away from home may mean that we have less physical contact with friends and family, but that doesn't mean we don't keep up with so called 'news' back home. This one in particular, managed to heat things up enough for my ass to melt the freezing cold toilet seat in the middle of winter! ERGH! Our forefathers fought hard for independence and national development, and THIS is what it comes down to?!

Now what are we gonna answer the next time somebody asks us what makes us proud to be Malaysian?

KUALA LUMPUR — P.S. Han, a teacher in Kuala Lumpur, has been using English to teach math and physics to 17-year-olds for the past six years. From 2012, he will be forced to return to using the national language, Bahasa Malaysia, after the government decided to abandon English for the two subjects in a decision some consider to be motivated by politics rather than education.
“English has been used as the language of science for 300 years,” said Mr. Han, a teacher at St. John’s Institution. “You cannot really convey the scientific concepts to the students in Bahasa Malaysia at a very high level.”
“We have to face the fact that science knowledge is in English.”
The announcement on Wednesday, which came after months of lobbying by Malay nationalists, has raised concerns about whether English standards in the former British colony will slide and whether Malaysia’s competitiveness as a destination for multinational companies may suffer. English has been the language of instruction for math and science in Malaysia since 2003, when former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad introduced the policy amid concerns that poor English skills were hindering students’ job opportunities.
Mr. Mahathir expressed sadness over the decision to revert to Bahasa Malaysia, saying that the decision would adversely affect children and make it difficult for them to keep abreast of scientific developments, the national news agency Bernama quoted him as saying. The government cited a decline in students’ math and science grades, particularly in rural areas, as one of the reasons behind the switch.
However, Khoo Kay Kim, emeritus professor of Malaysian history at the University of Malaysia, said that teachers had not been adequately trained before the policy was introduced. He described Malaysia’s English standards as “pathetic.”
“Fewer and fewer of our professors can now write in English,” he said. “We used to lead Asia in terms of English, and now we have allowed ourselves to slip below other Asian countries.”
Mr. Khoo said it was a “national shame” that the country’s oldest university, the University of Malaysia, had fallen behind other Asian universities in international rankings, a trend he attributed to declining English standards. He also raised concerns that poor English standards may affect Malaysia’s international competitiveness, saying that multinational companies may struggle to find graduates with good English.
“If less and less Malaysians know English, how are multinational companies going to come into this country?” he said. “If we don’t have the workforce who can fit into multinational companies, how are they going to come here?”
Malaysia’s business community has long been concerned about the reported decline in English standards in schools. “The business community feels that English is imperative for Malaysia’s international competitiveness,” said Michael Yeoh, chief executive the Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute, an independent research organization. Mr. Yeoh said that more needed to be done to improve English standards, but questions remained over whether teaching science and math in English was the best method.
“We don’t really know exactly how this could impede on the study of English,” he said.
The Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry welcomed the government’s decision to increase the number of English teachers and teaching hours. Its executive director, Stewart Forbes, said that the need to emphasize English must continue to be part of the government’s policy.
“Private sector companies in Malaysia continue to complain about graduates’ communication skills in general, and English skills in particular, and the government’s efforts to raise the level of English expertise are very worthwhile,” he said.
Some educators from Malaysia’s two largest minority groups, the Chinese and Indian communities, welcomed the decision to revert to using Chinese and Tamil for science and math in vernacular schools, local media reported. However, many parents and the National Union of the Teaching Profession have expressed concern over the decision to scrap English. Shazlin Aidani, a mother of three, said she wanted her children to learn math and science in English.

“When they graduate and go to work everything will be in English, not Bahasa,” she said.

If you're wondering how foreigners view Malaysians outta Malaysia, try catching a cab in Australia and strike up a conversation with the driver. One minute into the conversation, the cabbie will ask the most common default question possible. This is the reaction we usually get from our numerous cab rides around town.

"Where are you from?"

"Malaysia."

"Oh! Have you lived here long??"

"Because you're English is good!"

Yes, folks. People here are AMAZED that some Malaysians are capable of decent English conversations without the awkward stutters and confusing replies.

Boy, am I glad that we three monkeys grew up with English and endless hours of TV shows.

fudge cake fondue fun

Kueh Batik Sarawak

(aka Marie Fudge Cake...haha!)

What you need:

1 pack Marie Biscuits

3-4 eggs

250grams of butter/margerine

¾ cup of condensed milk

¾ cup of icing sugar

5 spoons of Milo powder

2 spoons of cocoa powder

What to do:

break marie biscuits into quarters, leave in mixing bowl (note: i must've missed something in the ingredients/instructions because my cake didn't turn out the way I wanted it too, slice-able and cake-like, not goey and overly fudgey. Hence, I think it would've set much better if 1/2 of the biscuits were crushed to powdery crumb instead.)
Melt butter into the sauté pan on medium heat.
Lower heat to minimum. Add in beaten eggs and constantly stir to blend in with the butter.
Add in the icing sugar, Milo and cocoa powder. Continue to stir to avoid clumping till the mixture turns shiny.
Once mixture starts to boil, switch heat off and pour into mixing bowl with Marie biscuits (crumbed and broken pieces together). Mix evenly.
Pour mixture into a sqyare baking tin/plastic container and press down to even out the mixture.
Once cooled, place into fridge until cake has set. Serve when hungry.

Mmm...yummy but cruel.

Caramel Chocolate Panna Cotta

This Italian dessert has gots to be one of the simplest things in life. There's only 3-4 basic essential ingredients, and the rest are up to you to add in for flavour. How easy is that?!

What You Need:

2 1/4 tsp unflavored gelatin
250ml heavy cream
100g white sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
cocoa powder
chocolate (melted)

What You Need to Do:

pour gelatine into 1/4 bowl of water, leave it to soak for 5 minutes
heat cream and vanilla extract in saucepan, do not boil!
for caramel making purposes, heat sugar in pan til it browns into thick caramel texture. (otherwise, you can just heat sugar and cream together)
pour warm cream into caramel, stir constantly to avoide caramel from hardening
add melted chocolate and cocoa (mixed with 2 tsp water)
add gelatine and stir until completely dissolved
pour into separate ramekins/mould
leave to room temperature, then store in fridge until gelatine has set
SERVE!

We didn't have proper ramekin dishes to use, so ordinary small bowls will do instead.

Leave to set, then flip bowl over onto serving plate to get that bouncy dome shape. Serve with evaporated milk, or fruit compote, or fresh berries, etc etc.

Strawberry Banana Cake

Things to put in

3 eggs
3 cups flour
1 cup vanilla sugar/regular sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
grated zest of one lemon
2 bananas (mashed)
1 cup of chopped fresh strawberries

Other 'optional' things

(highly recommended...nyehehehe!)

5 spoons Malibu Coconut Rum
3 spoons strawberry jam
1 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 cup cooking chocolate (melted)

What To Do

Preheat oven to 175°C.
Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
In a separate bowl, stir the eggs and the oil. Add the bananas, strawberries, jam and lemon zest.
Add to the dry ingredients and stir just until combined. Pour into square baking tin until 3/4 full.
Drip melted chocolate on top, form circular swirls with a chopstick.
Bake 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
Cool in a wire rack and frost with icing sugar.

For those of you who remembered, Mr Ronnie How here left us in Brissie (and gave us a REALLY short notice about it) sometime in February this year. This fella found out that we three monkeys were heading home for the summer break and planned (yet another short notice) an impromptu trip to Kuching. SO, given the kancheongness of the situation, Lyn played hostess and offered her apartment for Ronnie to crash at for the whole 8 days.

Knowing Ronnie How (don't mind the "formal" name calling, it's the only way we call him by name), it didn't take long for him to drop his 'paiseh-ness' and made himself at home.

What CAN you do in Kuching for 8 days, you ask?

We ask ourselves the same question everyday too.

Sigh.

"What you want to makan today, Ronnie?"

We kept him entertained.

(with a complimentary Munkie for abuse)

We kept him company.

(when he refused to sleep alone in the apartment after watching Lyn's collection of pochong DVDs)

We fed him well.

(VERY well, I must add)

We even let him play with the car.

We brought him sight-seeing.

(although there was nothing much to see)

And before you know it, it was time for him to leave us. AGAIN.

Thus, the Ronnie How adventure ended well. If not in Kuching, or Brissie, we'll probably have another chance meeting with our Ronnie How in Singapore :)

And so, it was the end of a fun week out.

And the beginning of a dreadful row of babysitting boredom.

A few months back, Lyn and I developed an addiction for Bonds hoodies. Then, their underwears. And bras. And then some more. So, I decided to create a Bonds fanpage thru facebook, just for fun.

Was nothing fancy, with not that many fans.

We totally forgot about the page and didn't look it up much until a few weeks back. Little did we know, the page has been collecting fans up to almost 20,000 people!

Heh.

Pretty impressive for a start, right?

Then it got even better, when I received a message from some dude claiming to be working for Bonds itself and seeking admin access to it. Wasn't really convinced about it all, but decided to give him access for kicks since we hardly maintained the page anyways. Was a little freaked out about it tho, thinking if I might've gotten into some trouble for some copyright infringement or something o_O!

Was only convinced when I got another email from the Bonds' marketing manager down in Sydney, offering to send over a giftpack as a thankyou gesture.

Diary of a Cat

DAY 752 - My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild satisfaction I get from ruining the occasional piece of furniture. Tomorrow I may eat another houseplant.

DAY 761 - Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet to trip them while they were walking failed. Must try this at the top of the stairs tomorrow. In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their carpet ... must try this on their bed.

DAY 765 - Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body, in attempt to strike fear in their hearts of what I am capable of - murder. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat I was...Hmmm. Not working according to plan.

DAY 768 - I am finally aware of how sadistic they are. For no good reason I was chosen for the water torture. This time however it included a burning foamy chemical called "shampoo." What sick minds could invent such a liquid.

DAY 771 - There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell the foul odor of the glass tubes they call "beer". More importantly I overheard that my confinement was due to MY power of "allergies." Must learn what this is and how to use it to my advantage.

DAY 774 - I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird on the other hand has got to be an informant, and speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. They have placed him under protective custody in a metal caged safehouse hanging above the ground. He is safe, for now...

Quick recap of the last two weeks!

Lyn, Munks and Zel = busy busy BUSY with uni workload.

August 19th - returned goods to kuching =(

August 21st - Harold and Kumar moved into new home in Annerley

August 30th - took the boys out for Brissie's big annual event, Riverfire

One monkey hadta go solo on this outing as the other two had assignments due the next few days... quick info - Riverfire is the big opening to Brissie's annual Riverfestival, to celebrate their environmental heritage.

Best bit of it all?
Riverfire - the City's biggest fireworks display from one end of the river to the other, fully synchronized to music on live radio.

The show started off with the popular Roulette's aerobatic airplane formations at 5pm Although the fireworks won't come out till 7pm, Southbank is already packed with human beings of all shapes and sizes by 4pm.
It's only worth the wait if you're looking for the best vantage point to catch all action.

And we did =D

This video may not be from this year's Riverfire, but it'll definitely give you an idea of what it's all about...

If you're wondering about the two moving bright lights at the end of the vid, they're the F1-11 jetfighter planes that swoops in at the start and end of the fireworks display.

Big opening, bigger bang ending!

What's the bad thing about going to a big event like this, is the crowd. Yep, the CROWD - half a million Brisbanians crammed along Southbank. That's NOT exaggeration btw. Getting outta Southbank took us 2 hours last year, so instead of trailing the rest of the herd, we headed over to IMAX to catch a movie. Quick movie review!

The Ekka in Brissie is possibly the only fun thing that comes with its own public holiday, just so anyone and everyone has a chance to squash, push and shove thru the overcrowded RNA showgrounds, all in one day. But of course we didn't wait for that day. That would only be SUICIDE for us mini pocket-sized Asians to roam scattered, un-armoured and weapon-less amongst big crowds of oversized (sometimes smelly) angmohs (picture cute itsy bitsy Hobbits (us) scampering amongst Urukhais (THEM). Not cool, not cool)

Walking rounds at the fun and games section, we had lotsa trouble overcoming our dilemmas from one stop to the next.

Today's Dose of Sarcasm

People, apologies once again for the delayed update since the last post. Busy BUSY schedule this time of the year - uni semester 2 commencing along with house hunting season. If there's one thing we students ~~hate~~ ~~despise~~ LOATHE about house hunting here in Australia, it's those homosapien species we'd like to call... the "agents".

Before we cause any more confusion out there, please note that the house hunt is not meant for US, but for the two boys currently squatting comfortably in our place. Lucky bastards. Haha.

Joke joke, sepet!

Moving along! House hunting is a sore, uglay, painful blister in the arse for anyone wanting to rent a decent house in Brisbane. With the bloody Aussie economy going strong (bad for us international students getting pocket $ka-ching$ from parents back home) and the high interest rates (bad for locals here), it's actually cheaper to RENT a house than to actually BUY one. It doesn't get any uglier than that, folks. Hence, we're having abit of trouble pouncing and catching the perfect kill of a house.

So far, we've managed to sneak up and stalk on some of these houses, "ambushing" them at every chance we get to inspect them. These are only SOME of the many houses we've tried hunting down, but to no avail. Waiting on replies from these "agents" within the week.

Fingers crossed.

Toowong - small, dark, cramped and funky smelling.
Yes, funky smelling.

Bardon - nice. Correction. VERY nice. But, very doubtful.
Too many applicants.

Paddington - ANOTHER funky smelling hole. I mean house. Blergh.

Annerley - decent, brightly lit. Competing against big group of Indians. Hoping on Suren to "influence" their consideration on taking them in since he's a hybrid of a Chinese + Indian himself.

House hunting season is still open.

Brought the boys out for their first taste of a typical "Friday nite" in Brissie - clubbing. Hehe. Well, at least the chinese and the indian got to breathe and roam free outside after being cooped up in the house for the past few days.

It's been weeks since the last time we girls had a Friday nite out, so Munks decided to "spice" things up abit with a whole new 'do.

Saw horse carriages in the City. Felt really cold from the winter wind. Thought "horse ride in winter = New York"! Haha. Close enough!
Cost us $60 for a 15min ride. Worth the ride for a group of 4.

As if a real horse carriage ride wasn't cool enough, we went on to ride the carousels at night, too!

Thanks to spoilt China kids holidaying in Melb, we got to tag along for a free ride to one of Melb's must-see tourist spots, the Great Ocean Road. Yay us! A bloody 4hour drive from the CBD. Left the City at 4am, drove non-stop till the sun came up. A sight of a lifetime.At the end of the 'Road', lies one of Australia's famous and familiar "brochure shots", the 12 Apostles. You may remember these shots from various random pictures you might've found scrolling thru Facebook photo albums of people you know who're in Australia, posing and striking the favourite asian "peace signs". You always hear how people say that driving down this road is an amazing experience, but nobody ever says how BAD the actual drive is! Early warning to those of you who might consider driving down this "great road".

Great Ocean Road = winding, snakey, twisting bends and turns ahead!

Picture this, steady speeding at 60km/h then a sudden slowdown to 20km/h around a U bend. Now imagine doing that consecutively for the whole 4hour drive... we got car-sick and nearly threw up in our throats. Blergh.

But at the end of that drive, the view was worth every bit of barf you nearly threw up on.

First things first. Apologies for the late update since we got back from Melbourne. Alot as in ALOT ALOT ALOT has happened in the last 7 days. Lyn, if you're reading this, we forgot to tell you something! Err errr... Ronnie left for Singapore for good last Friday 11th =( but we'll get back to that story a lil later...

Melbourne was fun!
(LYN, WE MUST GO MELB AGAIN! AND THIS TIME I MEAN WITH YOU! HARUS!!!)

Won't be saying much, will let the pictures do all the work.

First day out in Melb? Bumped into a former coursemate FangFang (nama manja, bukan nama sebenar) who happened to have flown in from Brissie the same day we did. Yum cha-ed in Chinatown wearing a "koni-chiwa" top.
WRONG PLACE, WRONG TIME!
Haha.

We've been told that Melb's famous for food and the arts.
No objections, Your Honour. We rest our case.

For anyone who's been down to Melb, any Melbournian will INSIST on taking you to Max Brenner for their extreme chocolate overdose of anything and everything. We opted for the chocolate fondue, where we got to play around with our food. Slices of banana and strawberries plus marshmallows poked and dipped in warm dark and milk chocolate.

NYUMM!!

Then, there was the ultimate nasi lemak at "Nasi Lemak House" on Grattan Road in Carlton.
(Thanx Mr Fazuzu for the recommendation!)

And then,
we found out about the OTHER extreme chocolate hotspot, Koko Black on Lygon Street.
Bellisimo!

As the youngest and MOST spoilt in the house, Munks got to spend her birthday with a bang. Celebrated the birthday dinner with close friends at one of Brissie's popular night spots, the Normanby Hotel in Red Hill. Food was good, live music was awesome, company was great. Sang out loud to the music while chewing thru dinner too. Fun, fun, FUN!

You see, I have a friend. And this friend of mine, well she has only been in Brissie for the past 4 months.. and in that 4 months, she has been maintaining a good long-distance relationship with her beau back home. So kan, this kawan of mine, has been anticipating and emo-ing her way thru the whole sem to see him again. And then kan, this friend of mine punya beau will FINALLY sampai Brissie jugak akhirnya.. In less than 24hours, another friend of mine and I are going to have fun humming and singing in the background,

"Reunited and it feels so goooood..."

But ya lah, that friend of mine pulak nebes boh. So how le?

Oh! That OTHER friend of mine? She also happens to be anticipating Friday the 27th. Why? Because she will finally be able to turn 21 this year. But har, I'm not so sure if it'll make any difference lah. Coz this friend of mine also one kind boh.. maseh juak act like monyet at home bah. So apamachiam? Macam tu lah.

Today's Dose of Sarcasm

Since the semester break started about a week ago, we've been doing nothing productive but to eat and laze around. About time we got off our winter-fat asses and did something a little more practical before the holiday ends. Take note - uni's 2nd sem starts 21st July, which is only... (please hold while I check the taskbar calendar) ... 25 days away!! EGAD!!! Not much 'happy time' left!

So, we decided to make a to-do list for the holidays. Make that a MUST-do list. By the way, we actually only have 1 week left to do the things on our list. Why? Because 2/3 of the girls of bardon will be flying off to Melbourne this coming 2nd July, while the other 1/3 will be jetting off to Singapore. Separated to two different locations, but still sharing the same sole purpose - retail therapy for the wounded drained souls. Ahaha. YAY!

Here goes...

Must-Do List
1. Spring clean house upside down (not literally ofcourse!)
which includes:

(dont'cha just hate it when people put songs on autoplay on their pages? gets annoying ay? hahahaha.. well, we just wanna show some love and hopefully pass on that disease of getting those annoying tunes playing in your head all day and night)

P.S - Please be informed that we may not be posting anything much for the period of 2-8th July as we won't be home or online for that matters. The 2/3 of us will be back in Brissie on the 8th July along with some extra baggage from the airport on the same day itself - fresh newbie meat from Kuching (aka Sherman and Suren). The other 1/3 won't be home till uni starts. BOO!

Today's Dose of Sarcasm

Hello, world!

It's about time we sat down and have a cuppa to catch up on lost times, dont'cha think? So sorry it took us so long to get back to you on updates, but heck... after weeks of uni stress, we owed it to ourselves to spend a day or two (or five) doing nothing but senseless random activities we never got to do before. And yes, it's safe to say that we had a blast rolling around in the dirt in our backyard, catching the last falling autumn leaves from a dying tree, painting dead tree leaves green again, and chasing the neighbour's pudgy poofy Welsh Corgi puppy around the neighbourhood (which Lyn bumped into with her owners one early morning. Her name's Ruby btw). Haha.

Okay, fine! So we didn't do ALL that. In fact, we haven't been doin much exercise lately since cold cold winter kicked in =P HEEHEE. Don't nag. We actually have a pretty solid theory to back us up - Cold cold weather leads to constant munching that turns to body fat that we need due to lack of warmth, which in turn leads to laziness due to the inability to move outside the comfort of our "warm" zones surrounding our heater. Hence, the equation adds up to:-

"cold weather = fat + lazy"
Nobel prize, please.

So what've we been up to INSTEAD, you ask? Well.... erm erm erm..
*we've been pampering ourselves too much with good food and stuff?*
The Cupcake Parlour in West End is one hella an evil place to go to.
Just look at those smiling gingerbread men... taunting you...

They say that "too much of a good thing can be bad"

But how can anything that looks THIS good be so bad for you?!

Another evil place to avoid is that stupid new store that just opened a few weeks ago in the City - Krispy Kreme.
(Ads, we're SURE you're cursing under your breath right now. OOPS. Oh well..)
And as if cupcakes and donuts from stores were not enough, we even spent time at home to make our OWN cupcakes.
EGAD! What hast become of us?

And for a last touch of pampering to reward all our "hardwork" over the sem...we got ourselves the ultimate reward,
the Sex and the City's Limited Edition DVD box set.
Bring on the marathonnn!!!

And so ends the implementation of our "reward system" for a successful completion of our semester. Congrats to Lyn for surviving her 1st sem, and congrats to me for finally graduating! Yay! And Munks? Well, she still has alotta uni hell to go thru. Haha. Sigh.

Have you ever had that feeling how time seems to be running out, but also seem to be moving too slowly at the same time?

Sigh.

Sucks when you feel like time is moving TOO slowly because you're anticipating that final paper to end the mother of all miseries, but at the same time, it's running out TOO fast when you still feel unprepared for that last piece of dreaded godforsaken paper.

Stress does many wondrous things to a person. Seriously!

Today's Dose of Sarcasm

Is it just me, or is there a standard rule or guideline for fellow bloggers out there to meet the criteria of being an emo filled with rage and angst in order to fully express the sufferings and misery in their everyday life of their doomed existence? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to notice a consistent pattern of bloggers having their life expressed in writing with such cheerless, depressing words. But just to justify things, we ARE aware of the different degrees of emo-ness in people. We also found different breeds of emos - the ones who whine and complain about their current lifestyles or lack thereof, the ones who speak in rhymes (in a non-Dr. Suess/Dr. Dre way) about the charms of death or the darker side, the ones who post up poetic lyrics of songs by bands that are mostly unheard of, the ones who bitch about other people or the things they have (which are merely nothing but words of envy), etc etc.

Quick confession - Lyn and I wasted a good 'ol 2 hours clicking thru random blogs we found from one link to another. Guilty as charged. Kepoh and curious, dangerous combo that one. Hence, the curious questions from our mini observation.

Now, don't get us wrong and be all judgmental about us being a little judgmental on others.. but we've suddenly come to realise that maybe our little blog right here is looking a little more like one of those cartoon-painted walls off a pre-school classroom. Somehow, we feel the obligation to conform and join the rest of the herd...

But heck, we're a happy bunch of monkeys so we apologize for the lack of expression of DEpression on our side. We don't mean any offence to those of you who DO write this way, because this is nothing but a little observation we had. And by saying so, we don't mean it to contradict what we say now against what we might talk about in our future posts. You know, like those people who say that they hate 'this and that', only to end up talking about the 'this and thats' that they didn't like in the first place! Haha.. Confucius say, "Stop babbling and get on with it!"
If anyone needs a cure to end their "miserable" days, we reckon that the best medicine to that is laughter. Yep. That's the kinda medication that WE get everyday. Haha. With the help of Munks being our main target of course. YAY MUNKS!

And if that little emo in you still insists on having a little violence and whatnots in your life, there is always that irresistable charm of those mimed fluffy creatures we love in the Happy Tree Friends. Violence is never the answer, but violence in cartoons?

Today's Dose of Sarcasm

Friday, Friday, Friday. What did we have for lunch on Friday? Well, someone was in a good mood and had a big chunk of lamb leg marinated in the fridge for two days. Took almost 2 hours to get it nicely roasted in the oven. Munks woke up starving at 12pm (her usual wakeup time), but it was worth the wait coz the monkey was grinning the rest of the day. Haha!

And for dinner?
We had the usual eat-out for lazy hungry 'i-want-my-food-right-now' bummers like us - sushi at Ginga, Southbank

So, okay.. we may have already had our say about the movie in the last post.. but damnit.. we're still not over it! So, for those of who who're big fans of the series and hasn't seen the movie... we STRONGLY ADVISE you to stop reading and click away to another page because we do not want to be held responsible for ruining the fun of watching the movie as the following comments might be the spoilers to the show =X you have been warned.

If it's worth mentioning a second time, it's definitely worth the watch. For those of you who may think that the whole SATC series and movie is highly overrated.. obviously, you don't know what these girls stand for in their (and our) lives - friendship. Even for Munks, being a first-timer meeting the girls of SATC, she had a hard time holding back the tears during the best bits of the movie. And BOY, were there a lot of good friggin' bits to it!!

A few of those best bits included the heartbreaking scene when Carrie attacked Mr Big (finally identified as John James Preston) with her flower bouquet after he left her at the altar on their wedding day. But that wasn't the only tear-jerker to that scene.. it was only when Charlotte had that angry/hurt look on her face, glaring at Mr Big while hugging and walking Carrie back to the limo that did it. That look right there made every girl (gay men included) in the audience sob out loud with a tissue in hand (us included). It was the most HONEST scene of the whole movie, how Charlotte 'protected' her friend and kept the 'hurt' (Mr Big) away with that 'stay back' glare. AWWWwwww... now THAT'S what friends are for! As for the other best bits of the movie? Well, we think it would only be unfair if we revealed them all. But, for a sure fact, we highly recommend this addition to your DVD collection.
