the post-show syndrome

Today's Dose of Sarcasm

Friday, Friday, Friday. What did we have for lunch on Friday? Well, someone was in a good mood and had a big chunk of lamb leg marinated in the fridge for two days. Took almost 2 hours to get it nicely roasted in the oven. Munks woke up starving at 12pm (her usual wakeup time), but it was worth the wait coz the monkey was grinning the rest of the day. Haha!

Today's Lunch MenuAnd our usual 'before and after' shot...
...only this time it's a 'before and after AND then smore' shot...

And for dinner?
We had the usual eat-out for lazy hungry 'i-want-my-food-right-now' bummers like us - sushi at Ginga, Southbank

So, okay.. we may have already had our say about the movie in the last post.. but damnit.. we're still not over it! So, for those of who who're big fans of the series and hasn't seen the movie... we STRONGLY ADVISE you to stop reading and click away to another page because we do not want to be held responsible for ruining the fun of watching the movie as the following comments might be the spoilers to the show =X you have been warned.

If it's worth mentioning a second time, it's definitely worth the watch. For those of you who may think that the whole SATC series and movie is highly overrated.. obviously, you don't know what these girls stand for in their (and our) lives - friendship. Even for Munks, being a first-timer meeting the girls of SATC, she had a hard time holding back the tears during the best bits of the movie. And BOY, were there a lot of good friggin' bits to it!!

A few of those best bits included the heartbreaking scene when Carrie attacked Mr Big (finally identified as John James Preston) with her flower bouquet after he left her at the altar on their wedding day. But that wasn't the only tear-jerker to that scene.. it was only when Charlotte had that angry/hurt look on her face, glaring at Mr Big while hugging and walking Carrie back to the limo that did it. That look right there made every girl (gay men included) in the audience sob out loud with a tissue in hand (us included). It was the most HONEST scene of the whole movie, how Charlotte 'protected' her friend and kept the 'hurt' (Mr Big) away with that 'stay back' glare. AWWWwwww... now THAT'S what friends are for! As for the other best bits of the movie? Well, we think it would only be unfair if we revealed them all. But, for a sure fact, we highly recommend this addition to your DVD collection.

Happy ending?
...that's for you to find out...

Sex and The City - THE MOVIE!

FINALLY!! The movie we've all been waiting for since the last episode of the series aired on TV 4 years ago! Since the series ended, it's pretty obvious how the American cable networks tried to win over the same effect from the audience by coming up with 'similar' shows. By 'similar' shows, we meant shows with similar concepts - four strong sexy women, the tragic comedy of the men they loved and left in their lives and the strong friendship bond they survive on after uglay breakups and messy dramas. (i.e: Desperate Housewives, Lipstick Jungle, Cashmere Mafia, etc etc.) You get the picture... but still, nothing beats the original Carrie Bradshaw and the girls in comparison!

So, as a little reward for our good behavior lately (not that we've been misbehaving or anything...) we spent the night off to catch the movie premiere show down in Southbank =D YAY US!

What's NOT to love about the girls of SATC?? If anything, they've taught us girls what love is really about - that euphoric feeling of falling in love, the ugly fallouts, the messy breakups and the friends who help cheer you up by bitching about the girl your boyfriend left you for. Hurray for girlfriends!

Some of the things we've learned from the girls of SATC...
"Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous" -- Carrie

“Maybe all men are a drug. Sometimes they bring you down and sometimes, like now, they get you so high." -- Carrie

Charlotte:
Miranda has a son!
Samantha: Just what the world needs-another man.

"The country runs better with a good looking man in the White House. I mean, look what happened with Nixon; no one wanted to fuck him, so he fucked everyone." -- Samantha

"I'm telling you: the fat ass, the farting - it's ridiculous. I am un-fuckable. And I have never been so horny in my entire life. ... That's why you're supposed to be married when you're pregnant, as somebody is obligated to have sex with you." -- Miranda

"I like my money right where I can see it: hanging in my closet."
-- Carrie

Adam:
Come on, give me a little BJ, up and down a couple times, you're done, it's easy!
Samantha: Easy? You men have no idea what we're dealing with down there. Teeth placement, and jaw stress, and suction, and gag reflex, and all the while bobbing up and down, moaning and trying to breathe through our noses. Easy? Honey, they don't call it a job for nothin'!

"I don't believe in political parties, I just believe in parties."
-- Samantha

"I'm looking for love. Real love. Ridiculous, inconvenient, consuming, can't-live-without-each-other love. And I don't think that love is here in this expensive suite in this lovely hotel in Paris." -- Carrie

"After awhile, you just want to be with the one who makes you laugh." -- Carrie

"No matter who broke your heart or how long it takes to heal, you'll never get through it without your friends." -- Carrie

We may not be any of the fabulous foursome in New York, but heck we know how to have fun in the City! Haha. Presenting...
'Monkeys and the City'

It may not be New York City, but a city's still a city to us...

masak masak

Today's Dose of Sarcasm

Another day getting bored outta our wits, we spent the late morning playing around in our most favourite space of the house... the KITCHEN! hehe =D WEEEE! Masak-masak time didn't take too long... and by 1pm, we had lunch on the table...

Today's Lunch MenuSweet and Spicy Ribs with Capsicum and Sayur Masak LEMAK!!! Yay us!

And oh... homey got herself a new haircut ;) hehe!

ain't no sunshine when she's gone...

Driving out from Bardon, we stopped at the traffic lights and got sent a sign from the divine powers above. What we wanted to do was to turn left and head to the City, but what THEY really wanted us to do was to turn right and head down to uni =( BOO! Especially on a rainy day like today. Bloody gloomy, cold and wet. Rain in winter is no fun. Not when it rains for a 2nd week in a row...

But like any other playful bunch of monkeys, we chose to have a quick trip round the City before heading down to uni =x ehehe...

Mother nature did not intend for monkeys to be kept in captivity..
(i.e: us in a small study room) ..it tends to aggravate us monkeys and cause much stress being cooped up in a confined space...

So, here's to the fun and joy of studying and the happy singing donuts that awaits us at the end of the rainbow.. Blergh.

tiga monyek

Today's Dose of Sarcasm

No, we did not get the title wrong. You see, a good friend of ours once spelled monkey in Malay as "M-O-N-Y-E-K" with full-on confidence and a straight face. (He/She shall not be named for personal reasons and safety purposes). Now, we three girls are known to be abit more expressive than necessary.. so regretfully, WE had a problem keeping a straight face as he/she mouthed out those letters. Ahahaha!

It's 3am and we just got home from a supposedly 'short' dinner out. Ended up driving all over Brissie to kill time and avoid the stress that was piled up all over the floor at home. And so, this tiga monyek decided to have some fun...Catching the city view from under the Story Bridge is always a good start for a night out... minus the drizzle from the rainy weather we're getting all week!

By the way, when we said tiga monyek, we MEANT tiga monyek.. haha.. Hence, us monkeying around...

Ending the night, we went from 'three monkeys roaming all over town' to the 'Three Monkeys' down in West End, another one of our fave regular eat-outs...

It's always fun when you can make fun of yourself... but it's even more fun for Lyn and I to make fun of Munks =x haha! Hey now...it's all good... (We ♥ you, Munks!)

If kids always have more fun monkeying around carelessly, why can't we stop growing up and just stay that way? Coz if grownups are meant to take life more seriously, then where's the fun in monkeying around? Sigh. Oh well.. I guess we'll never know. Coz right now, all WE know how to do IS to monkey around... hehe.
